Does this sound like your place?
Broken windows, rotted floors, leaking pipes, leaking toilets, garbage all over, or rats and roaches.
If your landlord has consistently refused to fix any of these housing code violations you no longer have to suffer in silence. The State of Michigan has passed new tenants’ rights legislation, which removes the hapless renter from the mercy of the avaricious landlord.
The Wayne University schools of Law and Engineering have undertaken a Summer program to study the Detroit Housing code and its enforcement.
They have set up assistance teams of one law and one engineering student to help individuals with their problems. They also will lecture groups on how to obtain proper enforcement and the new State legislation.
